Men's Made to Measure

In-depth men’s made to measure suit consultations at Casely-Hayford offer more than a series of options – we pride ourselves on providing expert guidance in terms of styling, fit and cloth to best suit each client’s needs, with a focus on a warm and insightful service. A more streamlined process in comparison to our semi- bespoke and bespoke offering, the Casely-Hayford men’s made to measure service at our London Chiltern Street store begins with our signature House block and adapts the garment to suit each client’s specifications taking into account posture, balance and fit.

Each Casely-Hayford tailor-made suit is constructed with a half-canvas crafted from horsehair running through the chest and lapel of the jacket. This ensures structure in the upper part of the garment, allowing it to drape naturally across the chest. Produced by machine rather than hand, made to measure is a more accessible entry into the world of custom tailoring than bespoke. Casely-Hayford stands for Innovation through tradition, each custom-made garment combines laser cut precision with age old traditions. We specialise in perfectly tailored wedding suits, occasion wear, business suits and dinner suits. We also uniquely offer more directional fashion suiting for those that so require it combining nuances from our fashion shows with custom detailing.

Consultation

We begin the process by understanding your needs and individual style, guiding you through any uncertainties. Our intention is always to reflect your characteristics in every aspect of the cut and design of your suit.

After establishing how and when your suit will we be worn, deciding the style elements of your suit soon follows – we make sure to guide you through each and every step as you select your fabric, trims, and detailing. An in-depth set of measurements are taken, and body figurations and posture considered as we work to accentuate your best features and reflect your individual look.

Our 3000 cloths are exclusively hand selected from the finest UK, Italian and Japanese mills. Details such as lapel style, shoulder construction down to stitch count can be determined as this stage. This generally takes one hour.

Cutting & Sewing

Once the final measurements have been taken and details finalised, we begin the cutting process. Your measures, posture and figuration move from notebook to digital pattern as the Casely-Hayford pattern cutting team create a template to cut your fabric. Your made to measure suit originates from our signature house pattern (also known as a block) and is then customised and sculpted around your personal measurements and preference.

Once your chosen fabric is cut with laser cut precision, the suit begins to take on a three-dimensional shape as it is crafted together. We will then keep your digital pattern on record to use for subsequent orders.

Fitting

Your men’s made to measure suit is then crafted to a near finished state. At this stage you return to the store and we begin to chalk, pin, and adjust the garment on you until the custom fit is perfect.

Every adjustment is then updated on your digital pattern, ready for your next commission.

Finished Garment

After a final press, your finished custom-made garment is now ready for a final fitting to carefully check the fit, silhouette and ensure everything is perfect before being ready to take to its new home.

Timings

The simplicity of our men’s made to measure means that from start to finish the construction of a personally-tailored Casely-Hayford garment is swifter than our semi-bespoke or hand-finished offering and generally take 7-8 weeks.
